Journal: Kaizal's Psychedelic Expedition to Mount Bromo
NATURE
The whole landscape of mount bromo is simply breathtaking, and with every visit to a different location, it transforms into a mesmerizing sight. This mountain has countless stories to tell, and it is up to us to put into words the emotions it awakens. The journey to Bromo was poetic in so many ways. The combination of the sunrise, the mountains, and the weather brings me pure delight, especially when I can enjoy the refreshing mountain breeze and the comforting heat of the sun on my face. Traveling amidst the sea of sand posed tremendous challenges due to its immense thickness and depth, making it cumbersome to walk or steady myself.
Simultaneously, it fueled my imagination, evoking the sensation of exploring the lunar surface.
The scenery surrounding Bromo is simply stunning! With its various sunrise viewpoints, it offered a unique and unforgettable experience. The journey through the desert-like landscape to reach the volcano was a true adventure. Once I reached the top of Mount Bromo, I was amazed by the incredible view of the crater. However, we were informed not to stay too long as there was the possibility of occasional emissions of smoke with a sulfur smell, and the volcano's activity could change unpredictably.
Upon reaching the summit of the volcano, the view of The Poten Temple (Pura Luhur Poten) looks absolutely majestic, embraced by the stunning mountain scenery.
The temple is considered one of the most sacred temples for the Tenggernese people. It is positioned in a picturesque location at the heart of the Laut Pasir (sea of sands), near the foothills of Mount Bromo. When I was there, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of satisfaction when I saw it from a bird's-eye view.
LEAVE NO TRACE
LEAVE NO TRACE is a principle that teaches the importance of not leaving any rubbish or non-biodegradable items, and also encourages minimal impact on nature.
WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT INDONESIA
I see Indonesia as a treasure trove of learning experiences and opportunities.
I had the pleasure of meeting some truly interesting people throughout the whole journey, including a fantastic group of Indonesians who are passionate about making changes in the world. They're actively involved in cleaning up mountains and streets in their country.
Perhaps the secret to true happiness lies not in capturing the perfect sunrise shot or admiring beautiful clouds from the mountaintop, but rather in embracing and treasuring all that we cherish as we make our way there.
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude towards Fjällräven SEA and the incredible Indonesia team for allowing me to be a part of this fruitful event. I'm truly enthusiastic about the exciting adventures that await me in the future.
